Song mood: All These Things by the Killers.

It snowed last night. The snow is slowly disappearing. I didn’t do any exercising today. It’s messed up that by Thursday it will be 70F(21C). That is Nebraska weather, snow one day and 70s the next.

I had a wordrobe malfunction today. It was a good thing I was wearing oversized shirts. The zipper on my jeans was broken and so my fly was open. I bought a couple pairs of jeans at Cosco. I ordered a shirt off of Amazon which cost just as much as the two pairs of jeans. So it was a day to buy new clothes.

I’m not going to say what the significance of 13 December. I thought about making an ‘are you okay’ video to post on that day, but decided not to.

I met with my bestie. It was good to talk with him. I talked with him about one of the things that is bothering me. We talked about a bunch of other things. It was good to talk with him. We started at the Tea Smith. I had the Dutches Earl Grey.

Then we went and had breakfast at a fancy restaurant. I had scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. I haven’t had scrambled eggs in a long while. Usually I have my eggs over easy. If I’m being difficult, then I will say over medium. I asked for Tabasco sauce and the waiter had to go to the bar section to get it. I could never understand my father putting Tabasco sauce on eggs. Now, I put it on potatoes and eggs.

Then my writer’s group met. My mentor was there, and my bestie. We talked about our writing projects and writing groups in general. I found inspiration talking with my mentor. She talked about this one writing professor we both had at UNO (University of Nebraska, Omaha). About how he talked down about commercial fiction and praised writing that was considered fine art. That man was so negative against me, that I stopped writing for a long while. I went to college to become a better writer and stopped writing after college. So now I’m inspired to just write a lot and become a successful writer.

I figured out what my new segment is going to be. I’ve been wraking my brain as to what I can do for a segment.

So, tonight, I will watch another episode of Miss Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries. It’s a fun show, kind of like an Agatha Christie novel. Tomorrow, I will do a little brainstorming and then watch mysteries. Monday, I will get some writing done and go from there.

Song mood: Mysterious Ways by U2. Currently I’m listening to The Ruin by Dervla McTiernan.  I’ve listened to a couple of novellas that she wrote where her detective Cormac Reilly briefly shows up in and liked them.  This is the first book with her star detective.  Between McTiernan and Trevor on who writes better suspense, I would say hands down McTiernan.   A person who writes mysteries as a genre follow a set of conventions so that the reader isn’t in a state of confusion.  One great example is putting dates before each section or series of sections.  Literary writers don’t follow conventions and the confusion at times come from the writing.  Where I say, let the characters mislead the reader not the writing itself. I am enjoying The Ruin .  It’s nice to get back to a solid mystery. I continue to walk at the lake.  Although, it’s a modified path where I get around 2.5 miles instead 4 miles.  I still need to figure out what to do for exercise in the winter.  I want to get a rowing m

Song mood: In Too Deep by Genesis. It’s been an Inspector Morse weekend.  I’m halfway through the original series.  I think I came upon an understanding.  If the show follows the book closely, it will say based on the book.  After the second season, the shows stopped following the books closely and then it says based off the characters.  Some of them say based off an idea by the author, which would indicate that the author collaborated with the producers for the screenplay. The other thing that I realized is that if they are going to follow the series, Chief Inspector Thursday won’t be in the new show for much longer.  Which this last season hinted at. I expect to work on my own mystery this week.  It happens in Sandy, England.  My Inspector Trevor is surnamed after the Irish author, William Trevor.   Trevor is one of the biggest names in literature.  Or he was when I attended college for Creative Writing.  I’ve read a few of his short stories.  I think I should listen to a fe
